SIX ATTEMPTS TO SWALLOW A SCREAM

“WE WRESTLE. WE SPIT. WE ARE BURNING. WE’RE RAGING AND NO DEAR, WE WON’T CALM DOWN”.

We want to get under the skin of the complexities of female rage to ask: what happens in the moments before we explode? How do we express the seemingly inexpressible?

Six Attempts to Swallow a Scream is a devised piece interrogating our struggle to understand our emotions, both as women and artists. Through movement, sound, the grotesque, and the occasional ironic song this piece attempts to articulate the frustration of the inexplicable.

Formed on MA Advanced Theatre Practice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, TOBECONFIRMED Theatre are a collaborative of six women. Through ensemble-led practice, we make experimental work that interrogates questions of female identity.
