walking each other home
A Play Reading
This powerful new play by Tim Graves is a spiritual kitchen-sink drama that takes place within the confines of a dilapidated cottage in the Norfolk countryside on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK.
When Michael, a middle-aged gay man, returns from the Amazon jungle to visit Frank, his elderly xenophobic and homophobic father, will he get the apology and reconciliation he is so desperately seeking? Are Frank’s ‘other visitors’ merely hallucinations, brought about by early- stage Alzheimer’s, or spirits from beyond the veil? And who exactly is Frank’s enigmatic and mysterious new live-in carer?
This tragi-comedy is about unresolved childhood trauma, prolonged grief and the oftentimes dysfunctional relationship between fathers and sons. It is also an exploration of how two gay men navigate an interfaith, interracial, inter-dimensional, age-gap encounter.
