Rover Title

THE ROVER

A carnival of cavaliers & courtesans

Sisters Hellena & Florinda's fates have been decided for them by the men in their life. Once the Carnival in Naples is over Hellena will be sent to a convent to become a nun. Florinda must marry a man chosen for her but she's found herself falling for the English colonel, Belville. His friend Willmore is the infamous "rover" who, with his band of English bachelors, is enjoying the Mediterranean heat and having amorous adventures. Throw in a pair of randy Spanish noblemen and behold the chaos & confusion!

First staged in 1677, Aphra Behn's galivanting romp is the jewel in the crown of Restoration Comedy, complete with masks, mistaken identities & mischief!
