In folklore, the maiden symbolizes the youthful stage of a woman’s life. The mother signifies nurturing, responsibility, adulthood, and the fullness of life. The Hag is the wise elder who reminds us that death is part of the life cycle. We follow them as they follow each other from cradle to grave. You can’t escape your former selves; they will always lurk in the shadows.
Julie Balloo studied drama and worked as an actor. She has since written stage plays, radio plays, sitcoms, short stories, and articles for both print and online publications and anthologies. She was Jenny Éclair’s co-writer for fifteen years, and during that time, they created plays and radio series. She also performed stand-up comedy for ten years.
Holly is an actor/director and has recently created a short film, Behind the Screams. She is a huge horror fan and aims to be the next scream queen.
Allie Young is a Theatre Maker who trained at Italia Conti and more recently completed her MFA at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. A lover of all things dark and mysterious, she created and performed her one-woman/witch show Hex Sells! a witchy feminist extravaganza.
Donna King is a performer, director, and writer from Kansas. She originated roles in New York and London, including the original Broadway production of Cats, Can-Can, West Side Story, and Kiss of the Spiderwoman in London’s West End. Donna runs Studio22 in Camden and loves to support new writing and storytelling.
Together, they are The Ginger Hags.
