MOYES IS GONE. Holy moly. Stuff is getting really real now. You'll definitely want to be joining us on Saturday for Ryan Giggs' first outing as Manchester United manager! Sunday is also a huge day at the old red as it's FOOTBALL FESTIVAL DAY! There's a whole host of interesting and fun football related events, see below for more information.
Atl. Madrid vs. Chelsea @ 7.45 (Big Screen)
Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich @ 7.45pm (Big Screen)
Benfica vs. Juventus @ 8.05pm
Southampton vs. Everton @ 12.45pm (Big Screen)
Manchester United vs. Norwich @ 5.30pm (Big Screen)
Sunderland vs. Cardiff @ 12pm (Big Screen)
Liverpool vs. Chelsea @ 2.05pm (Big Screen)
Crystal Palace vs. Man City @ 4.10pm (Comedy Commentary!)
This Easter, the Old Red is getting holier than thou and resurrecting some sweet soul just for you. Join us on Saturday 19th from 9pm for a special set from Dermot Kelly. Dermot is a singer/songwriter performing a mixture of modern and traditional jaunts. On Sunday you can enjoy a nice pint of biblical Guinness and relax to the folkish sounds of our Irish session band from 8pm. We suggest you take Monday & Tuesday off work as it'll probably take you three days to rise again (we're very sorry for this awful punning).
If Sabotage Times says it, you should definitely go! #ComedyCommentary - Saturday 29th March, Manchester United vs. Aston Villa 12.45.
Here at the Old Red, we're messing around with the idea of starting a casual Subbuteo night in the pub. It's been a long time since we've played, so whilst we look up the rules - why not get in touch with us if you'd be interested in this idea? Tweet us or leave us a message on Facebook and let us know if this would be your sort of thing. The more messages we get, the more likely we are to do it.

This year, we're celebrating St Patrick in style! Over the weekend there's a range of relaxing and exciting things to see. On Friday evening the Ukes of Westminster will wow us with their excellent harmonising and strumming. Playing at the bar from 6pm - they're not to be missed!
On Saturday and Sunday, alongside the fantastic Rugby and Football fixtures, we're hosting two Irish music sessions from 8pm on both evenings. With sometimes upwards of 15 musicians playing at once, the Old Red really will be the place to celebrate! There's also a rumour that some Irish dancers might appear on the scene at some point. There's also an Irish themed pub quiz on this day!
On Monday 17th, join us for a relaxing day of 'bring your own Irish music'! Pub owners and Irishmen The Devinyl's will also be present to choose some of the best Irish music of the ages, and will be happy to drink a Guinness with you at the bar!
Ukes of Westminster!
This coming Friday 14th, we're joined once again by the fabulous Ukes of Westminster! This time amplified and louder, the gang have brought some new and old material along to perform for all you lovely patrons between 6 and 7.30pm.
If you ever visit us on Friday lunchtimes then you may have already come across these guys in the snug. They play a mixture of new pop and old soul but Ukelelefied to the max, or something similar. Together, they harmonise beautifully and really are a marvel to watch.
The Illustrated Game's fabulous comedy commentary event returns this month!
Saturday 29th March @ 12.45 - MANCHESTER UNITED VS ASTON VILLA.
Performing from in front of a huge cardboard television, the Old Red Lion Theatre’s two favourite comedians Nick Hall & Pete Starr parody modern football commentary. An event for football fans with a sense of humour, this match up promises to provide both great football and comedy!

At 4pm we have a super fun football quiz hosted by the False Nine. Chill out with the Norwich game on the big screen and take your time with our football related questions! £1 in and winning team takes the Jackpot! And finally at 6.30pm - follow the False Nine boys upstairs for their third live audience football podcast! This is certainly a day not to be missed.

Ukes of Westminster LIVE!
We're delighted to announce that on Friday 7th February the Old Red will be playing host to the fabulous Ukes of Westminster! These guys are the real deal, so to prove it - have a little watch of this:

Artistic Director Departs..
We are very sorry to announce that Nicholas Thompson, artistic director of our theatre will be leaving us at the beginning of April. Good luck Nick - we'll treasure this beautiful picture of you for all time.

The False Nine's Live Pubcast!
Our friends over at The False Nine joined us yesterday for our (and theirs!) first ever live audience podcast, or pubcast! The boys joined us for the Chelsea vs. Manchester United game, then popped upstairs to chat about the week with guests Musa Okwonga and James McNicholas. We had a lovely time, as did the audience - so a future pubcast looks on the cards. Throw a follow over to @IllustratedGame and @The_False_Nine for updates in that department!
