The Hardy and The Unfolding Present
two works in progress: pig swamp songs and displacement
Pig Swamp Songs
Written by Abram Rooney (National Theatre/ITV/BBC) and directed by Simon Usher (RSC/Royal Court/National Theatre)
“Ma said these dreams were just different types of Pig Songs...that the songs would come in all different ways...not just on the wind or lakes...but in dreams and things to from the other side.”
Ralph is sinking in a swamp on the enemies’ wasteland. As he scrambles
to lift himself from the stink-hole, he calls out to his wife, his lost son and
to God, if there is one.
All the while singing a Pig Song, or two.
Written by Christopher Ryan (Soho Theatre)
“A submarine. Billy is floating along. He is humming his song. His heartbeat echoes out."
Billy sets off on a voyage in a homemade submarine to find his lost Father. Billy’s tale is not just one of reunion. It is a journey of discovery, sacrifice and realisation.
