BABY BLUES
“IT GRADUALLY CHIPPED AWAY AT ME UNTIL I HAD NO CONFIDENCE IN MY OWN ABILITY TO BE A GOOD MOTHER.”
Baby Blues is a ground breaking verbatim, physical/ dance theatre performance which explores the complex nature of parenthood, giving audiences a glimpse of the negative impacts postnatal depression (PND) can have on both parents and the immediate family unit.
One in 10 mothers are directly affected by PND.
Using striking true testimonies and powerful physical theatre we are aiming to break down the taboo status surrounding PND. Opening lines of communication between audience members that have previously gone unuttered, we are going to question that if theatre is one of the safest spaces why aren’t we using it to teach audiences the entire truth about taboo subjects?
Age guidance: 6+
Trigger warning: Theme of postnatal depression
PLEASE NOTE THAT FLASHING/ STROBE LIGHTS ARE USED IN THE PRODUCTION.
Running time: 45 minutes (approx.)
