When memory takes hold, when chaos takes over, and when the electricity between us becomes overwhelming. An impossible love story is given a second chance and three scorched characters are about to learn that lightning does strike twice.
During their annual pilgrimage to the countryside, two childhood friends, forever bound by a terrible event from their past, encounter a beautiful stranger who couldn’t possibly exist. Threatening to uncover a truth long since buried, these friends must learn to take responsibility for their lives or risk spending the rest of them running from their guilt.
Exploring how tiny events from our pasts can have explosive effects on our futures, Tiny Dynamite asks whether we really can shed the experiences, memories and people that shape us.
Receiving its London premiere 17 years after its critically-acclaimed debut in Edinburgh and New York, award-winning playwright (Splendour, Donmar Warehouse; Belly, Almeida Theatre; 27, National Theatre of Scotland) and screenwriter (Shame, Suffragette, The Iron Lady), Abi Morgan’s Tiny Dynamite comes to the Old Red Lion this January.
From the team behind Selma Dimitrijevic’s A Prayer (★★★★★ – “Intelligent, ambitious and deeply moving”) comes the timely revival of a compelling play from one of the UK’s leading writers who – until now – has been absent from the London stage for far too long.
