The Fortnight Club began 20 years ago when a handful of comedians including Lee Hurst, one time comedian and now famous author Mark Billingham and QI’s Alan Davies wanted a place to test out new jokes in an Ronnie Rigsby has been the resident compere for most of the club's history and has had the pleasure of introducing such acts as Lenny Henry, Lee intimate club setting.
From these humble beginnings, it has gone on to become London’s (and probably the World's) longest running new material night for established acts.
You will often see rising stars on the same bill as seasoned circuit professionals and it’s not unusual for top TV names to drop in unannounced to sharpen up their gags. 'Nelsey' Nelson, Robin Ince, Jo Brand, Tony Law, Hattie Hayridge, Simon Amstell, Sarah Kendall, Andy Parsons, Lucy Porter, Lee Mack, Milton Jones, Catherine Tate, Stephen Merchant, Harry Hill and Eddie Izzard.
As we enter the third decade of this highly original night we have moved on from our original site The Camden Head to re-launch in February 2011 at London’s latest comedy venue The New Red Lion Theatre.
Now that we have double the seating capacity you have more chance to say...“I heard it there first!”
