NEW TRICKS is a season of rehearsed readings of new plays by some of the most exciting playwrights around.  Box of Tricks presents readings of new work, hot off the press, offering audiences a chance to see plays-in-development at an early stage.

LEOPOLDVILLE, Jacqueline McCarrick

Set in 1990, Leopoldville is a dark Irish play about a gang of five young men who decide to rob a pub in a border town in Ireland. Friendships are severely tested as their crime spirals horrifically out of control.

27th October 2008

SANCTUARY, Michael Crowley

England 1556, the reign of the fervently Catholic Mary Tudor. Heretics are being hunted and burned. Sanctuary tells the story of a man trying to hold onto his faith, his family and his life in a time of religious fanaticism and violence.

COLLAPSING COLONIES, Kenneth Emson

Collapsing Colonies focuses on a group of survivors in a country destroyed by war. With memories of oppression scarred on their skin, will they be able to start again or is poverty and violence all that will remain?
